We are looking for a Project Designer, responsible for daily design and technical development of projects, to work collaboratively on a wide range of residential projects. This is an opportunity for a creative designer with initiative and ambition. Each of our clients are unique and require a fresh perspective. You will work in collaboration with our design, trade, and production team, following our design-build process.
Your duties will include the following:
- Meet with clients and understand their goals and needs
- Investigate the existing home and comprehend challenges and opportunities
- Develop multiple conceptual design solutions
- Refine design "development" solutions through computer modeling and material collages
- Work with our Production Manager and Trade partners on budget solutions
- Manage the selection process with the client, including selecting fixtures and finishes
- Develop construction drawings for design solutions
- Work in collaboration with our production team, handle construction questions

Qualifications:
- Minimum experience of 3-5 years of residential construction design experience.
- Proficient in a BIM software with demonstrated space planning skills. We utilize Vectorworks and while Vectorworks proficiency is a plus, it is not required. (If you have mastered other BIM software, you can/will pick up Vectorworks.)
- Strong construction assembly and detailing knowledge.
- Proficient graphic presentation skills.
- Proficient computer skills - typing, documentation, cloud-based collaboration.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Finish Carpenter to join our remodeling team. Are you the right fit? Are you a skilled tradesperson specializing in the final touches of woodworking and cabinetry? If so, you’ll enjoy the many benefits of MAK's collaborative design-build environment - from working with a team of skilled carpenters and fully vetted trade partners to having our in-house designers available to answer questions about plans when time is of the essence! Your duties will include the following:
- Craft and install detailed woodwork, trim, and cabinetry across all MAK projects.
- Maintain job site safety for clients, subcontractors, and MAK staff.
- Read and understand all plans, specifications, and drawings for each assigned project prior to the construction start date.
- Communicates job status and any change orders or issues as they occur to the Project Manager.
- Find solutions to problems that arise on-site, and work with cabinet providers/manufacturers as needed to order any needed materials.
- Attend department, company, and client meetings.
Desired Traits/Skills:
- Precision Craftsmanship: You excel in making detailed and precise cuts, joints, and fittings to achieve high-quality, polished results.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with hand tools (e.g., chisels, saws, drills) and power tools (e.g., routers, nail guns) is essential for intricate work.
- Material Knowledge: Understanding of various wood types, finishes, and materials used in cabinetry, molding, and trim.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and plans to ensure accurate execution of designs.
- Joinery Techniques: Mastery of joinery methods such as, mortise and tenon, coping, and miter joints.
- Cabinetry/Casework: Strong install knowledge of both cabinets and case work.
- Trim/Casings: Mastery of all types of trims and door casings.
- Int. Doors: Master of setting Int. doors of all sizes ( Swing and pocket).
- Finish Work: Skill in applying and finishing techniques to achieve a smooth, seamless appearance, including staining, painting, and sealing.
- Design Aesthetics: Keen eye for design details, ensuring that the final product aligns with the overall architectural vision.
- 5+ years of experience with a range of finish carpentry projects, from installing trim and moldings to crafting custom cabinetry.
- At least 3 years working with a design-build firm in residential remodeling.

- Maintain jobsite safety and a clean job site.
- Perform building and carpentry tasks on projects as needed, including but not limited to: demolition, framing, siding, installing doors/windows/skylights/cabinets, trim, etc.
- Read and understand the plans, specifications, and drawings relevant to the assigned work for each project.
- Complete assigned tasks, follows directions, and ensures that there is sufficient time for end-of-day procedures.
- Report to Project Manager and/or Lead Carpenter on job status.
- Attend department and company meetings
