Interior Design
Space Analysis
There were many design challenges in this large residential remodel. The home was owned by empty-nesters who wanted their house to be more accessible for them and a beautiful place they could come back to from their vacation trips. The home was plagued with poorly executed siding and roofing; there was dry rot from excessive and repetitive leaks. It needed a completely new façade and needed to be fully redesigned on the interior to update and improve the space. The clients had an eclectic design aesthetic and wanted a larger master suite and a more accessible layout.

Customization
To solve the design challenges of this home, MAK created a more accessible and updated layout. The exterior of the home was completely redone with a statement front door and modern materials. The master suite was redesigned with a spa-like feeling, invoking a sense of serenity and beauty. Additionally, the staircase, which was previously quite narrow and steep, was widened to be safer and more comfortable for the clients. A beautiful custom hand blown-glass Chandelier created in New York was installed in the dining room for a dramatic effect. To address the older couple’s need for increased accessibility, a dumb waiter was installed in the kitchen cabinetry to get suitcases and other large or heavy objected upstairs. The home is now beautiful, sophisticated, and updated to meet the desires and needs of the clients.
