MAK Design + Build joined a team of sustainable design consultants to design this cutting-edge, sustainable residence, called the Honda Smart Home U.S. The demonstration house, built on the UC Davis campus, blends smart and sustainable technologies with a warm, modern, and clean aesthetic.

In the thorough process of research, discussion, consulting, and specifying, MAK provided green expertise on finishes, fixtures, interior and exterior doors, furnishings, and other interior specifications. MAK sourced and managed the procurement and installation of green and domestically-built furniture, from the custom organic sofa and FSC-certified dining set to the patio furniture made from recycled milk jugs.

The thorough consideration that went into each selection was significant; every piece of furniture, fabric selection, and lighting fixture presented a potentially different impact on the natural environment. MAK provided the best possible recommendations for sustainable materials, fixtures, and furniture through our comprehensive research and design. This ultimately contributed to the beautiful, environmentally-friendly, and comfortable living space created, while considering the impact these recommendations would have on the local and global environment.
