Space Analysis
An empty-nest couple moved from a spacious and remote ranch into this city dwelling, but needed some significant renovations completed to make it livable. The home had a large lot with quiet privacy but was lacking a sensible spatial layout that would meet their needs and desires. The front of the home looked like the rear and the exterior needed a new roof and was outdated with a choppy layout and flow that needed to be generally redesigned. The interior was dark and also outdated with monotonous, uninspiring finishes and a disorganized and cramped flow within the rooms. The kitchen needed a full remodel to be updated, enlarged and integrated with the rest of the home that needed to be remodeled as well. The master bedroom and bathroom were dated and aesthetically inadequate in size, lighting, and layout. To create a livable home, the couple needed an innovative design that would make their home a place to enjoy living in during their post-children years.
This is something they are really good at doing: high-end design on a super budget,’ Mary says about MAK…‘We had wanted to raise the roof, and we started looking at the budget, which was more than we wanted to spend. Ken and his crew kept working on it and working on it and working on it, until they figured out a way to do it... it made all the difference in the way the front of the house looks.'

MAK created a clean, modern, and livable design for both the interior and exterior spaces that allowed the couple to enjoy their newly designed home. MAK remodeled the whole home, repairing the spatial issues including raising the ceiling heights and adding many windows and bright whites to bring the outdoors in while adding reflectivity and clarity to the space. MAK also added fun accent colors to create a joyful pop to the interior and exterior. MAK’s whole home transformation provided the couple with a well-organized, light, updated, and personalized space to call their home.
