“Blue’s Clues” Contemporary Bathroom, Laundry, and Dropzone Remodel
The Program
For their fourth project with MAK, this family set out to turn their guest bathroom into a space they could truly be proud of, one that felt both beautiful and tailored to their daily life and their beloved cat, Moe. Working within the home’s existing footprint, the project focuses on thoughtful customizations like a hidden laundry cabinet, a cat tunnel leading to a concealed litter box, and a built-in nook for the Roomba.
The result is a guest bathroom that everyone loves… including Moe!
A Place for Moe
To make daily life easier for both the family and their beloved cat Moe, the project includes a series of clever pet-focused customizations. A discreet cat tunnel was built into the wall, allowing Moe to move freely between rooms and access his hidden litter box tucked inside the hallway drop zone cabinetry. Just steps away, a custom roomba cabinet without a baseboard allows the vacuum to deploy automatically and sweep up any litter Moe might track behind him, all without the need ffor any cabinet doors to be opended!
These subtle yet thoughtful details help keep the home clean, functional, and perfectly suited to Moe’s routines.
Intentional Storage
This project features a variety of intentional cabinetry solutions designed to keep everyday essentials close at hand but out of sight. A tall cabinet in the hall bathroom discreetly conceals a stacked washer and dryer, blending seamlessly into the space while adding valuable function. In the bathroom, a built-in linen cabinet tucked behind the toilet offers a subtle yet accessible spot to stash extra towels, toilet paper, or whatever else you need in a pinch.
“I've been with MAK for several reno's over the past 15 or so years. Every project, every person involved has been professional and great to work with. The designers are patient, helping me figure out exactly what I'm looking for. They're super creative and I'm so happy with how my rooms have turned out.
Attention to detail is really important -- MAK works with what you have, making sure the new space will be compatible with your favorite kitchen appliance, for example. Recently, I had two super specific ideas and MAK made them happen -- a special tucked away litter box entrance, and a dedicated cabinet for my roomba! Both work perfectly and are just the solutions I was hoping for.
We've done a master bath, kitchen, den, and most recently a bath/laundry combo. Obviously I'm thrilled with them since I keep coming back! I wouldn't trust my home to anyone else.”
