Making an Entrance

Before + After

The Program

This client came to MAK with the wish to transform her 1940s ranch-style house's exterior into a stunning, modern facade. In short, this project was about increasing the home’s curb appeal. The remodel included moving the entry to a central location to give the home more balance, replacing the roof and siding, and updating the doors and windows. While the project includes a lot of large-scale changes, the brilliance of the design is found in the details which were expertly planned in the design phase, and meticulously carried out by the production team. The final product is a striking exterior that is both modern and inviting. The homeowner now happily reports that not only does she adore the new way her house looks, but her community loves it too - she receives compliments from neighbors and passersby daily!

“What a joy the entire team at MAK was to work with. Anthony, from the design team, came up with three different designs and I loved all three! His vision is simply astounding . Josh was the project manager and his meticulousness really shows in his work and he's an all around great guy to have in an around your home. Everyone cared about the project and gave it 100% I definitely recommend MAK!”

Crafted With Care

This project’s design stands out for its striking minimalism and meticulous attention to detail. Throughout the remodel, the MAK designer and project manager collaborated closely to achieve a sleek and cohesive final product. To maintain the light, streamlined aesthetic, MAK custom-designed and milled the trim on-site. The seams were treated as design features, with care taken to avoid obscuring them with bulky applied trim, showcasing the craftsmanship in every transition.

The updated facade features Western Red Cedar paneling on both the bump-out entry and the garage surround. These Cedar accents bring warmth to the otherwise cool color palette. Steel window boxes punctuate both sides of the pop-out entry, preserving sightlines while providing spaces for accent lighting that add depth and intrigue to the entryway.

Inspired By The Elements

Durability is a priority, MAK replaced the sagging vinyl siding with a weather-resistant and modern exterior. The client wanted the look of cast concrete, so MAK opted for acrylic stucco. This material not only achieves the desired smooth, gray finish but also incorporates the color directly into the stucco, effectively giving the home a lifetime paint job. Another key upgrade was replacing the traditional shingled roof with a sleek standing seam metal roof, further enhancing the modern aesthetic while guaranteeing lasting strength and resilience.
