Sage Advice

Before + After

The Program

Function and form are perfectly married in this elegant contemporary Kitchen's new design.

The clients came to us wanting to reimagine their Kitchen area hoping that it could become a place people gravitated towards. They wanted the space to feel natural, warm, and serene all while being highly functional as the family loved to cook and entertain.

A Place for Everything

It was important to the clients that the new Kitchen have meaningful storage solutions that create a dedicated home for all of their cooking tools and allow them to display specific kitchen items they loved - such as their beloved ceramic dishware collection. By adding a walk-in pantry, a Kitchen island with storage, a built-in hutch, a dedicated coffee appliance garage, and a pull-out pantry near the fridge (for frequently reached-for items) the clients now have a place for everything and clutter-free countertops

Color Story

In an early design meeting, our clients brought in a piece from their favorite dishware collection, which we used to inspire colors throughout the project. The dishware had a small accent sage green frog motif that inspired the cabinetry color. The built-in hutch now serves as a perfect display case for their dishware while also offering ample extra storage for other items.

Designing “Sage Advice”

The clients wanted to work within the existing envelope of their home but use the space more efficiently. By removing the existing peninsula and one of two pantries we were able to capture and add critical space to the kitchen. Every inch of their new cabinetry has intentional storage, making it so that the clients now have new places to store what was in the previous second pantry.

“MAK Design and Build are a wonderful company. Our kitchen is our second project with them and I can’t wait for the next one. Everyone was very professional and, most importantly, very pleasant to work with. From the initial design meetings, through the completion of the project we felt well taken care of. Whenever a problem arose, they were quick to respond and took whatever steps needed to fix it. Kellie Love offered us a couple of design concepts at our initial meetings, and we loved the colors and materials of the first one so much that we didn’t need to do much but sit back and let MAK turn our drab brown and yellow 1978 kitchen into a beautiful, modern, and functional center of our home.”
